REPORT OF THE WORLD DOG SHOW 2002:
We talked a lot about it and for a long time we looked forward to it, but now the World Dog Show was running. Today Friday the 5th of July the Terrier group should be judged. When we went to Amsterdam we expected a lot of traffic, but it was quiet, at half past 7 we drove to the parking without any kind of problem. The entrance was not bad, except the fact that the participants and the visitors had to take the same door. A lot of people complaint about that.
The designation for the rings was very bad, we saw people with their Bull Terriers walking everywhere and they all had the same problem, they couldn’t find ring 23 and 24. When we found it finally we could be happy that the rings were very large. At a normal Winner-show we mostly have very small rings.
In the catalogue stood 111 Bull Terriers, a good number of entries. The participants came from countries like Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia etc. Mrs.Hoobroeckx–Duurentijdt was the judge for the males and Mr.Burgwal for the bitches. The judging for males and bitches started at the same time, so you had to make a choice what you wanted to see, males or bitches.
I took the decision to watch the males so I can’t tell you not so much about the judging of the bitches.
Mrs.Hoobroeckx started with the puppy class males, there was only one puppy and not two as the catalogue let know. It was a brindle male from Spain, called Bobo the Gerbal, he got the qualification Very Promising. He was also Best Puppy in Show, because the two puppy bitches got the qualification Promising.
There was also a class for Veterans, there was one entry, the brindle 9 year old male Ike. He looked very well for his age. He got the qualification Good.
After this the Open class came into the ring, there were 16 males and a that moment it was a bit of disorderly in the ring. The ringmaster had problems to keep the situation in control. Of course all the different languages the participants talked was a big problem and the fact that a lot of them were in Holland for the first time. Every country has his own way how to judge a dog show. After the group was split everything became easier and judging could start. On the 4th place was the red male Grand Chester Auto Pilot from Venezuela. The 3th place was for the brindle male Grisse Basse Hanky Panky from Holland. The 2th place was for the black brindle male Black Scorpion off Daikini, also from Holland. Number 1 was the red male Lotus Jack Pajar from Czech.
Next was the Young class, there were 17 participants and in this class the judge should give away the first world title, Young World Champion or Young World Winner, whatever you want. On the 4th place we saw a very beautiful white male called Golden Bullit Doc Holiday, he needs some time but I predict him a great future. On the 3th place stood a white male from Austria called Mighty Bulls Bad Boy Sven. On the 2th place also a white male called Canara el Principe and he was from Spain. In the catalogue we saw him in the class called “Tussenklas”, this is a class we normally don’t have on a dog show, but he went over to Young class. The number 1 and Young World Champion was the brindle male Yoeckydoe’s Abrakadabra from Belgium. Last year on the show for puppies, organised by the Dutch Bull Terrier Club, he also was most promising puppy for 2001. Today he showed that the judge of that day made the right choice. Congratulations for Heike Knockaert, breeder and owner of this beautiful male.
Then there was de "Tussenklas", I don’t know a translation for this class. There should be 4 dogs, but there was only 1. His name was Ragtime Daidalos, he got the qualification Very Good, so we didn’t see him back at the end. Only the class winners who got the qualification Excellent may come back in the end for Best Male or Best Bitch.
The last class for the males was the Champion class. There were 7 participants and they all won one or more titles. The expectations were very high, especially the participants from Italy and Spain. After Mrs.Hoobroeckx judged the dogs she send out 3 of them, an Italian Champion,an English Champion and a SouthAfrican Champion. After this the public started to shout. On the 4th place stood the red male from Holland, Dutch and Luxembourg Ch.Mad Max v.d.Jodyna W’99. On the 3th place the brindle male Dutch, Belgium, Luxembourg and International Ch.Special Edition of Serious Desire W’00 CW’02, he is also from Holland. Number 2 was the white male German and International Ch.Stormbringers Loverboy von Kaiserstuhl, he is from Germany. The 1th place was for the in Holland living English Import black brindle male Dutch Ch. Curraneye Oscar Wilde W’01, on which the public again started to shout. In my opinion this is unfair. Of course I can imagine that your opinion is not the same as that from the judge but starting to shout to a judge is a statement we cannot tolerate.
For the title World Winner 2002 we saw 3 males back in the ring and the number 1 of the Open class was the new World Winner 2002, his name Lotus Jack Pajar from Czech. He also got the CAC and CACIB. So the number 2 of the Open class, Black Scorpion off Daikini came back in the ring and he got the reserve CAC and reserve CACIB and he is so as we call this; reserve World Winner 2002. Congratulations to these winners.
We had 46 entries for the males and 10 of them were absent, this is a lot. For the bitches we had 65 entries and there were 20 dogs absent, by example the “Tussenklas” was absent completely (8 entries).
In the Open class bitches the 4th place was for the brindle bitch Upperclass Wednesday Imperator, she is from Germany, the 3th place was for Suicide Blond off Daikini, she is from Holland. The 2th place was for Grand Chester Magic Dance from Venezuela. The 1th place was for the white bitch Cose Dellavita off Daikini from Holland, last weekend she won the title Dutch Champion.
The Young class bitches also should bring a new Young World Winner. On the 4th place we saw the Dutch bitch Rhydaman Ballerina and on the 3th place her litter sister Rhydaman Belle de Grécy. On the 2th place we saw a bitch from Poland called Hoza Hanka Timar. Number 1 and the title Young World Winner 2002 was for Pett Pajar from Austria. She is a half sister of the male who became the title World Winner 2002, they are from the same father, Jagger Pajar.
In the Champion class we had 6 bitches. The 4th place was for the Poland Ch.Fast Lady Timar. The 3th place was for the Dutch Ch.Shadow Dancers Pritty Girl W’00. The 2th place was for the Italian Ch.Napier secret Affair. The 1th place was for the white bitch Luxembourg, German, VDH and International Ch.Candida the dream of Life, she is from Germany.
For the title World Winner 2002 we got 3 bitches in the ring and Mr.Burgwal gave the title to Multi Ch.Candida the Dream of Life, she got the CAC and the CACIB. The reserve CAC and reserve CACIB went to Cose Dellavita off Daikini, so this was the second reserve World Winner 2002 for the kennel off Daikini, so this was also the most successful Dutch Bull Terrier kennel today. Congratulations for all the winners.
For Best of Breed we saw 2 new World Winners in the ring and BOB went to the male Lotus Jack Pajar.
I hope everybody who visited Amsterdam had a nice World Dog Show also when your opinion is not the same as that from the judges, especially the judge of the males. I heard a well known English judge saying ; they also could have done all the names in a big hat, took out 1 name and say, you are the World Winner 2002.
In the future we will try to make a report in English from all the International Bull Terrier Events, like the K.E.T.S., English Trophy Show, World Dog Shows etc.
So we hope to see you back on www.bullterrier.nl
André Verheijden.
